Examiner: Why do some people have problems managing their personal finances?
Candidate: I suspect it might be because it has become so easy to get credit from banks: credit cards, overdrafts, whatever it is you might need. Of course, there are a number of real plus points to this - you can buy whatever you want more quickly, and you don't have to pay the loan off until later, so I do see why it holds so much appeal. And online banking has actually made it easier to do this without having to deal with the hassle of going into the branch and standing in a queue for ever. There’s very little you can't do through your online account. For example, you can apply for a loan wherever you might be, and most of the time you’ll be given the money. But, for me, there’s no substitute for speaking face-to-face, where a bank advisor can point you in the right direction, as far as savings or debt is concerned. Above all else, they won't allow you to get into debt that you can't pay back. |
